I might be a fool, you might be one too ... maybe we're all that we needed.

music: Plain White T's -- "All That We Needed"
mood:  relaxed

If I could get paid for the following things, I would never have to worry about money again:

--sleeping in the sun
--reading books for pleasure
--laughing
--loving Brandon

Oh what a lovely day that would be. smile

Oh, and I think I was want to learn to make salt-water taffy so that I don't have to go all the way to the beach to get the good stuff. smile Good idea, huh?

Thursday, April 20th

There's this boy. And he kind of stole my heart.

music: The Rocket Summer -- "Never Knew"
mood: cool eh? a bit tired, but happy nonetheless

Because I've gotten some people yelling at me for not telling them ... here's my PSA. Brandon and I are, as of last Thursday (the 13th), officially dating each other. smile Which will also clear up confusion as to why you see pictures of us kissing in the photo gallery even when I tell you we're not officially together. We weren't. But now we are. smile And it is good. smile Very very very good! big grin

Here's some quotes...

Contrary to what the cynics say, distance is not for the fearful ... it is for the bold. It's for those who are willing to spend a lot of time alone in exchange for a little time with the one they love. It's for those knowing a good thing when they see it, even if they don't see it nearly enough.

It was really weird. Last night I was thinking ... why is it that two people meant to be are always so far apart? I sat for hours wondering why such a thing has to be. But then it came to me ... the distance tests your love. If you’re apart and it’s meant to be, you will meet again.

The simple lack of [him] is more to me than the presence of others.

My favorite thing is waking up each morning and knowing that you are loving me.

You know it's true love when no matter how far the distance is, he can still make you smile.

When you fall in love, it is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then it subsides. And when it subsides, you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the desire to mate every second of the day. It is not lying awake at night imagining that he is kissing every part of your body. No – don’t blush, I am telling you some truths. For that is just being in love, which any of us can convince ourselves we are. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away. ~ Captain Corelli’s Mandolin

All love that has not friendship for its base is like a mansion built upon the sand. ~ Ella Wheeler Wilcox

And no relationship is perfect … ever. There are always some ways you have to bend, to compromise, to give something up in order to gain something greater. But the love we have for each other is bigger than these differences and that’s the key. It’s like a big pie chart, and the love in a relationship has to be the biggest piece. Love can make up for a lot. ~ Sarah Dessen

But the bottom line of why most people stay together is because, despite the occasional rocky path, they love each other and enjoy each other’s company. ~ Fourplay by Jane Moore

I wanna be the surgeon that cuts you open and fixes all of life’s mistakes; I wanna be the house that you were raised in, the only place that you feel safe; I wanna be your shower in the morning that wakes you up and makes you clean. ~ Bright Eyes, “Ship in a Bottle”

I know this may be redundant, but I think it bears repeating. I think I’ve found my better half – I swear I’ve found my better half. ~ The Spill Canvas

Being in love is amazingly, frighteningly, beautiful.

Noah: Well, that’s what we do … we fight. You tell me when I am being an arrogant son of a bitch and I tell you when you are a pain in the ass … which you are, 99% of the time. I’m not afraid to hurt your feelings. You have like a 2 second rebound rate, then you’re back to doing the next pain-in-the-ass thing.
Allie: So what?
Noah: So it’s not gonna be easy. It’s gonna be really hard. We’re gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you … forever … you and me … every day.
--"The Notebook"

They didn’t agree on much. In fact, they rarely agreed on anything. They fought all the time and they challenged each other every day, but despite their differences they had one important thing in common, they were crazy about each other. --"The Notebook"

It was an improbable romance. He was a country boy, she was from the city. She had the world at her feet, while he didn’t have two dimes to rub together. -- "The Notebook"

The course of true love never did run smoothly. ~ William Shakespeare “A Midsummer’s Night Dream”

I’d rather fight with you than make love with anybody else. ~ The Wedding Date

Phoebe: I know. I know. I know. I know, and if you try to make it more you might wreck it.
Ross: Yeah, exactly.
Phoebe: Right. Or you might get everything you’ve wanted since you were fifteen.
~ Friends

Andrew Largeman: I don’t want to waste another moment of my life without you in it.
~ Garden State

Rachel: Just so you know … with us … it’s never off the table.
~ Friends

I love you even when you’re sick and look disgusting. ~ Love Actually

But if something was really important, fate made sure it somehow came back to you and gave you another chance. Events conspired to bring you back to where you’d been. It was what you did then that made all the difference: it was all about potential. ~ The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen

You’re what I look most forward to coming back to where I’ve been. ~ The Starting Line, “Playing Favorites”

You are around the clock and just so you know, everyone else is not. ~ The Rocket Summer, "Around the Clock"

I am not into the idea of living with you and I, I am not into the idea of being without you. ~ The Rocket Summer, "Around the Clock"

Good news! :D

music: nadda
mood: big grin happy!

So I've been offered 2 jobs today ...

Until I go home for the summer, I'm employed as a part time receptionist at Alterra Assisted Living on 27th here in town ... at $9/hr!

Over the summer, I'll be working at Rehab Medicine FULL TIME front office clerk at $10.50/hr! Will hopefully be able to pick up a M-F evening job too. We shall see. smile

Yay!

Oh! And we went on a Cadbury Cream Egg hunt today. lol I went to every store in this town ... and finally, Dylan #1, Jacob, Cassie and I walked to Albertson's and we found THREE burried at the bottom of their Easter carts. lol Three eggs! Holy moly! I'll savour them. smile That's for definite. lol

I might be getting to see Mariana this summer! I'm still ironing out plans for hopefully being able to go to Orlando to visit her. It's cleared w/ her fam and I'm pretty sure I'll be able to afford it with my tax refund. I need to talk to my parents about it and make sure it'll be okay to take 2 weeks off (total ... 1 week for Chris and 1 week for Mariana) at work and stuff. I'm really hoping it will work out!! Gotta see my sista!!

The SUN is out and has been all day!! It's glorious!

And that's all for now. smile

Happy Easter!

music: The Rocket Summer -- "Never Knew"
mood: smile happy!

This is kind of an obligatory post, lol, but oh well. smile I apologize for not keeping up with things on here ... especially to those of you who keep up with my life via my website. lol Ay yi yi, I'm real bad at doing things like emailing and posting and such. lol Sorry!

Anyway, I hope everyone has a most wonderfully blessed Easter!! My weekend has been splendid -- very relaxing, very much needed. It's been good to get away from everything and just relax and spend time with people I love. Not that I don't love people at school, of course, just that sometimes I need to get away and just not have to deal with anything ... and this is the place where I can do that.

So yeah, that's that. I'm going to go take a shower, methinks. smile Happy Easter everyone!!

God and Evil

The University professor challenged his students with this question.

"Did God create everything that exists?"

A student bravely replied, "Yes he did!"

"God created everything?" The professor asked.

"Yes sir", the student replied.

The professor answered, "If God created everything, then God created evil, since evil exists, and according to the principal that our works define who we are, then God is evil."

The student became quiet before such an answer. The professor, quite pleased with himself, boasted to the students that he had proven once more that the Christian faith was a myth.

Another student raised his hand and said, "Can I ask you a question professor?"

"Of course", replied the professor.

The student stood up and asked, "Professor does cold exist?"

"What kind of question is this? Of course it exists. Have you never been cold?" The students snickered at the young man's question.

The young man replied, "In fact sir, cold does not exist. According to the laws of physics, what we consider cold is in reality the absence of heat. Every body or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy. Absolute zero (-460? F) is the total absence of heat; all matter becomes inert and incapable of reaction at that temperature. Cold does not exist. We have created this word to describe how we feel if we have no heat."

The student continued, "Professor, does darkness exist?"

The professor responded, "Of course it does."

The student replied, "Once again you are wrong sir, darkness does not exist either. Darkness is in reality the absence of light. Light we can study, but not darkness. In fact we can use Newton's prism to break white light into many colors and study the various wavelengths of each color. You cannot measure darkness. A simple ray of light can break into a world of darkness and illuminate it. How can you know how dark a certain space is? You measure the amount of light present. Isn't this correct? Darkness is a term used by man to describe what happens when there is no light present."

Finally the young man asked the professor, "Sir, does evil exist?"

Now uncertain, the professor responded, "Of course as I have already said. We see it everyday. It is in the daily example of man's inhumanity to man. It is in the multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but evil.

To this the student replied, "Evil dies not exist sir, or at least is does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God's love present in his heart. It's like the cold that comes when there is no heat or the darkness that comes when there is no light."

The professor sat down.

The young man's name -- Albert Einstein

The oldest movie I ever saw was the one we wrote together

music: Fall Out Boy -- "Honorable Mention"
mood: plain meh ... mostly good

Hiya!

Well, I haven't updated in a long long while ... so here's a quick recap of my life up to date (in no particular order):

--My birthday was on the 18th of March ... finally turned 20! smile Hooray! lol I decided to go home the day before and that turned out to be a really good decision! I've been a bit homesick for my family lately, so it was really good to go home and see them and just hang out. My sister and I had a lot of fun, which is ALWAYS good! lol Uhh, yeah. Didn't really do a whole lot -- just hung out with the fam for the weekend. big grin

--Went home for spring break the Thursday before, so I had a week and a half of break, which was splendid! I'm feeling that post-spring break slump that I always get into though ... and I'm trying to break it, because it's bad news. lol Started working on my Hawaii scrapbook, which has been great! Worked some, hung out with my sister loads, spent a lot of time with Brandon. We tried to go hiking on Table Rock, but that didn't work out because you can't bring dogs ... who knew? Sheesh! lol So we went to the park instead. That was about the extent of my spring break though.

--This week was classes as usual ... Brandon came up Thursday. We went to dinner and saw Ice Age 2 ... then Friday we went into Salem and drove around for about 5 hours ... not even joking. lol Then went to the Hush Sound, Hawthorne Heights, AAR, FOB concert which was rad! Such a good time! Wowzers. My head was POUNDING uncontrollably by the end, which was no good ... but the concert was great! I don't know a lot of AARs newer stuff, but they played a couple of older songs that I love and well ... FOB played almost all of my favourites! lol Which is hard because basically all their songs are my favs! lol They only played on that I didn't know, so I was yelling and screaming and just generally having a good time the entire night. lol Photos are up in the gallery! == www.not-so-simple.com/sam --> photos --> FOB concert

--Over break, I became addicted to the computer/xbox game Oblivion, but have not had much chance to feed my adiction since returning to campus ... which is heartbreaking.

--Chuch was quite good today. smile It was fast Sunday, I found out ... after I'd already eaten. But I fasted the Sunday before confrence, so it's ok. Umm, oh. And I taught Gospel Doctrine, and it was a pretty good lesson given the fact that I prepped it starting at 1:00am. lol :-X Promise not to do that again!

--Last night, Brandon and I went into pdx and hung out w/ Marisa, which was quite the adventure! lol Went to a dessert bar (delicious!) and then tried to go bowling and then tried to go to an 80s arcade. Ended up doing a lot of driving, not as much walking, a lot of laughing, and neither of those two things. lol But it was a good night. smile We definitely had a good time and it was really good to see my sister again!

--I'm going to try to go home for Easter, but don't know for sure if that will work out.

--Looks like I won't be in Mac for the summer after all ... the class I want to take is online, so I'll be able to go home, which I know my parents are happy about.

--General confrence last weekend was great. smile I'm still catching up on what I missed, but I've almost listened to it all. Audio archives are amazing.

--I should be doing homework right now, but as I mentioned ... post spring break slump is dangerous. :-X

--My taxes are done and mailed in ... I don't owe the government any money. In fact, they owe me $399, which is definitely good news! smile

And I think that's all for now. smile Adios amigos!
